NEW HAVEN, CT - Millwork manufacturer Assa Abloy says it has developed an industry-first, moisture-resistant plastic laminate wood-core door intended for wet or humid interior applications, says David Jordan, U.S. sales director of wood doors for the Swedish company. The wood base means LEED credits available.

The Maiman Integris door has the visual warmth of wood for openings that have been limited to hollow metal, fiberglass or aluminum doors, Jordan says. They are composed of an exterior grade treated wood core, weather-treated lumber stiles and rails, and high pressure decorative laminate skins with matching edge bands on all four sides. Manufactured in the U.S., these doors are made to withstand difficult environments and come with a 3-year warranty for interior applications.

"Architects and building owners have been clamoring for a doorway solution that would enable the natural look of wood to flow throughout a facility," says Jordan. Integris provides a sturdy and aesthetically-appealing door that can last in damp areas, such as restrooms, locker rooms, shower areas, swimming pools and spas, medical rehab facilities, or cleaning supply storage rooms, etc.

The Maiman Integris doors, measuring a maximum 4x8 feet each, are constructed of high pressure decorative laminate faces with matching edge bands on all four sides, and a moisture resistant core that Assa Abloy says eliminates the need for application of a secondary protective coating or laminate. Doors are also moisture, humidity and termite resistant, and fire rated.

Assa Abloy architectural stile and rail doors, thermal fused flush wood doors, moisture resistant flush wood doors, and wood door frames are manufactured in Springfield, MO, as part of the Maiman product line. Architectural premium and custom grade flush wood doors are produced in Mason City, IA, as part of the Graham product line. www.assaabloydss.com
