SUGAR LAND, Tex. - Cosentino North America says it has expanded its offerings in Dekton, the ultra-compact surface with advanced technical properties for cabinetry, adding the XGLOSS Series—five luxurious high-gloss colors with the highest reflectivity and durability, giving them applications for counters.

A newly developed nanocoating process creates a crystalline shine that enhances the XGLOSS Series colors, and gives the material resistance to scratches, stains, UV rays and temperature shock.

Dekton is made using a proprietary process, called Particle Sintering Technology (PST), an accelerated four-hour version of the change that rocks and stone undergo in nature when subjected to heat and pressure over thousands of years. This results in an ultra-compact surface with superior technical characteristics, including resistance to UV, scratches, stains, thermal shock, and very low water absorption.

Its resistance to thermal shock against heat, frost and thawing allows Dekton to be used in any climate, offering potential for seamless design from indoor to outdoor spaces. Such unique characteristics and durability make Dekton ideal for an array of surface applications, including countertops, vanities, shower walls, flooring, decking, building facades, and many other architectural surfaces.

Dekton's durability makes it suitable for an array of indoor and outdoor applications, including countertops, façades, cladding, flooring, stairs, and more. It is available in large format, which allows for seamless creative surfaces for architects and designers.

Cosentino's introduction of XGLOSS meets the interior design industry's growing demand for all things lacquered and reflective. Popular in high-gloss cabinetry, and mirrored furniture, the newnow countertops and surfacing, the style adds a modern finish to any space. Combining ultra-polish with ultra-performance is an industry first, according to Leon Marquez, VP Marketing for Cosentino North America.

"We've continued our innovation with the breakthrough of a nanotechnology treatment that creates an extraordinarily luxurious, shiny finish on these new Dekton colors," says  Marquez.

The new colors include:

  • Halo, a soft white hue married with a high-gloss finish makes Halo an instant classic—fitting traditional aesthetics and sleek, modern spaces alike.
  • Blaze, a dark-polished mirror look in gunmetal gray, the highly reflective nature of the material brings instant luxe and brilliance to its applications.
  • Splendor, to meet designer and consumer demand for a subtle grey, it offers a modern take on a classic hue with its lacquered look.
  • Lumina, a highly saturated warm taupe that brings an earthy hue juxtaposed with unmatched radiance and reflectivity to a space's color palette.
  • Spectra, a solid black with exceptional shine, with a luminous and intense black color that lends a spectacular elegance to any project, whether used indoors or outdoors.

The new Dekton colors will be available nationwide. Dekton is available in large format slabs, measuring 56" x 126", and in three thicknesses: 0.8cm, 1.2cm and 2cm. Dekton retails for $58-$96 per square foot, depending on thickness and color, at Cosentino Centers and kitchen and bath retailers nationwide.  www.dektonusa.com .
